Bridging Loma Alta Creek is one of the last obstacle in completing the Coastal Rail in Oceanside. A project study of complete in 2018 to evaluate the preferred alignment across the creek at Buchanon BeachEngineering has completed a project study report of the feasibility and the conceptual design to extend the Coastal Rail Trail from Oceanside Blvd across Loma Alta Creek to Morse Street. The project team recommends a 255 foot bridge parallel to the rail line with a ramp on the south side to provide access to the park. Cost is estimated at $8.8M.
The City has applied for a SANDAG Smart Growth Grant to fund an EIR and 30% design. If SANDAG funding is received, the City will apply for a CALTRANS Cycle 4 grant for construction.
